For Don Luciano Chuman, who had long lived on the streets of Ferrenafe, Peru, being able to shower and wear clean clothing were rare luxuries.
Instead, he was commonly called the "crazy man" as people avoided him because of his tattered and filthy clothing, his grimy hair and beard and his odorous stench.

For the people of the Peregrin Evangelical Church decided to rescue him.
With his permission, they bathed him, cut his hair, shaved his beard and gave him clean clothes.

To help Don Luciano Chuman get back on his feet, they also put some money in his pocket and arranged for social services to help him.

This is a wonderful example of how communities could treat their poor and their homeless, and it makes the point that every life is special and has meaning.
