Calvin Tyler, in his youth, unable to afford Morgan State University he dropped out. Now he and his wife Tina are donating $25-million in scholarships.

They are donating $20-million now in addition to the $5-million they donated in 2016.
According to Morgan State, an historically black college, it is the largest alumnus private donation in the school's 154-year history.
So how did Calvin make his fortune?

After leaving school in 1964, Calvin became one of the first 10-drivers UPS hired in Baltimore.
And he never left UPS.
Determined to succeed at a time when the civil rights movement was just taking hold, he did an outstanding job, and promotion after promotion followed.
Eventually, Calvin was promoted into senior management and to the UPS Board of Directors.
But here is the key: He not only had a large income but he took advantage of the employee stock option plan to accumulate stock which gained in value as UPS prospered.
Calvin built a huge net worth, from which has come his and Tina's remarkable generosity.
How meaningful is that donation?
Dr. David K. Wilson, Morgan State University President summed it up nicely:
"Morgan is so proud to call this son and daughter of the great City of Baltimore our own, and through their historic giving, the doors of higher education will most certainly be kept open for generations of aspiring leaders whose financial shortfalls may have kept them from realizing their academic dreams."
