A disabled puppy rescued from a dumpster, finds a new and loving home.
Tiny terrier Dennis was just six-weeks old, deaf, and half-blind when he was left in a dumpster, like a piece of trash, in South Oxfordshire, England.
He weighed less than four pounds and was struggling to survive.
Dennis was rushed to a veterinarian for lifesaving care and then transferred to the Blue Cross rescue center in Burford, England.
There, Dennis was fed intravenously to strengthen him, and he was given medication to treat his wounds, possibly caused by sharp objects in the dumpster.

"I didn't expect him to be so small," said Anouska, the admissions coordinator at Blue Cross. "He was absolutely tiny."
When he arrived, Dennis was frightened. And being deaf, and nearly blind, he did not clearly see those around him, nor understand what was happening to him.
"He would sort of go to the corner of the room or try to nestle into you in order to feel safe," said Anouska.
Given his physical limitations:
"If we came into the room, we'd sort of tap our feet on the floor so he would get the vibrations to let him know we were approaching - and when we'd go to pick him up, we'd tap him gently so that he knew what these things started to mean."
Using the cues he was taught, when he was placed in a foster home, he learned to navigate the rooms, and memorized the home layout.
And then this little pup was adopted by a kind and loving family, a new start putting behind him all the terrible challenges he originally faced.
