Each January, cookie lovers begin buying their favorite Girl Scout cookies.

But this year one 6-year-old Pittsburgh girl shattered Girl Scout national sales records by selling over 100,000 boxes of cookies in a single sales season, by going viral on social media, and triumphing over prejudice stemming from her disabilities.

Little Pim Neill, according to her dad Luke Anorak-Neill, wanted to join the Girl Scouts since she was just 3 years old, and when she reached kindergarten, qualified to join.

But there was a problem. Luke told CBS News Pittsburgh:

"Our first troop, unfortunately, when we tried to join...the lady said that Pim's disabilities would hold back the troop, and they didn't want her to join."

(Story continues from "Read More")

After being rejected by a second troop, rather than give-up, Luke found another Girl Scout troop, one for kindergarteners only, where Pim was welcome.

"The troop is a great fit for Pim, and it's 11 brilliant, fun kindergartners."

Each Girl Scout receives a personal website where customers can place their orders, and Luke shot videos of Pim and posted them on TikTok, linking them to Pim's page.

Each video begins: "Hi, my name is Pim. Do you want to buy some Girl Scout cookies?"

"People on TikTok rallied," said Luke. "They loved her. They adored her. They supported her, and it has been so incredible."

Luke described this experience as teaching Pim to set goals, strive to achieve them, and most importantly, to have fun.

"We've had a lot of support," said Luke, "and we're just excited that we're inspiring so many more girls."
